Newspaper report 1
Crime scene
by Merryn Mokomoko
In Christchurch there has been a terrible crime scene on August the 15 2014. There had been a little 7 year old farm girl running around her farm. She saw a man wearing a black mask she said
“What are you doing here?” he just walked closer and closer and chopped her legs off and threw her legs in a pond nearby and threw her body on the other side of the pond. All you could see was half of her legs and her small black gumboots. Police officers have been trying to investigate but they haven't found any clues!

WALT write a piece of writing from the old mans point of view as he recalls his memories.
The Piano
I am a kind old man that is very good at the piano. I know that I am getting old now and I might die soon so I am going back to some of my memories that I can remember. As I am playing the piano I start to remember My wife that past away from cancer 8 years ago. I also start to remember when we went on holiday to Fiji it was lovely there we had a nice time together, we went diving together and found lots of cool shells. I look beside me and I imagine My wife playing the piano next to me. I think of some times like when I went to war and I saw my brother die, It was terrible my own brother was dying in my arms I tried to help him but it was too late. Meanwhile I feel sad and I want to remember some happy times, I remember for my 7th birthday my dad got me my own ride on horse it had a nice fluffy soft mane with eyes that looked like they were real. As soon as I had opened it I new that it was the present I had ever got. Unfortunately my dad past away not that long ago I can remember my dad giving it to me and the big smile he had on his face was a nice way to remember him. Playing and playing the piano I start to remember my mum, she was a lovely old lady she would give me the tightest hugs in the world my face would go bright red. My mother also died it wasn't a disease or anything she just got really sick she couldn't walk and she could barely talk. So we took her to hospital and from there she past away. Luckily I have my grandson to keep me company since I love him so much I handed my ride on horse to my grandson he loves it evan tho it is not like a scooter that they have now it is still the best present ever. I start to remember some more memories like when my grandson was only little and he was just born he was the most lovely thing ever. I also start to remember the day me and my wife got married it was so beautiful we got to go in a limo away for tea we had all our family and friends come we had every sort of lolly for desert and we had every type of ice cream for dessert and we had really yum stuff for tea I really miss having my wife around but I can suck it up. As I am remembering the wedding I also start to remember the day that my wife died that was heartbreaking I remember being away from her for 2 weeks and then I went to go see her and she wasn't in her room so I asked the people behind the desks. I asked where is my wife they said what is her name I said lucy i'm sorry but she past away last night I burst into tears and walk away. I can't really remember any other things and start to get tired so I stop playing and leave. But I think of one more memory so I jump back on my piano before bed because this is a really good memory it was when I owned a farm with all sorts of animals there were fat ones small tiny ones and big ones lots of them I need to go to bed soon so I stop and go to sleep good night. The end

Mud slide 100 word challenge
Week #45
World Events for your writing
I’m sure you won’t have missed the events in Barcelona, Spain this week or the devastation caused by the mud slide in Sierre Leone and the violence in Charlottesville, Virginia. The prompt this week uses the emotions that the media has shown us.
Latest prompt
As I said at the top of this page, the events around the world this week:

Mudslide
I woke up this morning late for work so I jumped out of bed and got ready. As I am brushing my teeth I look on my phone and see that it is 8:00am “Ahh I should be at work by now.” I start walking to work now and I see a hill that looks like the mud on it might fall. As it came rushing towards me I scream as loud as fireworks. I look around and see lots of people crying and asking for help. All I could think is that so many people have lost their family.

whale fantasia
Week 3 whale fantasia
Today is the day where I go diving in the water for a swim with the whales. In the ocean with two of my two friends Aliyah and Talia we are having a big day today. My dad is taking us in his boat and dropping us off we don't want to do it we are to scared dad says “three two” and before he could get to one he pushed us into the water and laughs.
We dive in it is so beautiful in here. The deeper and deeper we go the darker and darker it gets. The ocean shone like stars in the night sky. It looks so pretty with the sun shining through the water.
I am starting to get tired and getting slower and slower my friends are spinning round and round and round in circles. I love it in here so so much It is one of the best fun thing I have done in a while. I go round the corner and I see 4 big humpback
Whales.
they are so humongous they are as big as a building. They have lots of little dots on them they are called barnkells. As the wales turned around their tails rubbed on me they feel as if they were a sponge cleaning me.As the water flows the bubbles feel nice on my skin. The ocean was as cold as a freezer
and the water was as clear as a window, and the water flows so nice. I can feel some of the wind on me from outside the water. I go back up because I am getting really tired I jump back on the boat. I love this trip so much I can't wait to go again one day.

I had my earphones on so I couldn't hear anything and I wasn't focusing on the road It was starting to get a little bit darker and cars were starting to turn their headlights on. I am feeling so puffed right now.So I take a break and sit down “boom” a flash of light shines in my face I get such a fright……...

If I ran away, if I was sick and stayed at home, if I had been smarter, then none of this would have happened. Frightened and scared that I am not going to get home, depressed because I couldn't believe what I had done. I feel angry and anxious, Grinding my teeth; biting my nails; scrunching my fists. I leave the room and then... I am traveling on a ship going to another country. Me and my mates were traveling in big red containers, the containers were as rusty as an old bolt. I look through the gap in the side of my container and my friend that was in the container with me looked through the other side.We could see that the pirates were trying to take over the ship we watched for a while to see what they would do. Together me and my friend watched, we saw that they were in the kitchen eating the soup “Yum soup” said the pirate another one had a massive gun in his right hand, and he was eating the carrots. Then they went to the captain and took the keys and started up the boat then they went into the containers and said “Where's all the stuff” So we all got out of the container and told the pirates off. We rolled them up with some paper that we found, We pushed some pirates back onto their ship. So all the pirates were gone. That's the end.

Beyond the lines
WALT write a narrative through the eyes of one of the children or one of the soldiers.
As me and my friends were on the ship to go to war we all huddled up so we could keep warm and because there wasn't much room. When we arrived at the beach we saw the Turkish people waiting for us to arrive. I walked down the ramp and ran into a puddle. The Turkish people had put barbed wire on the ground so we could get cut.
The Turkish people had bombs so did we, they had helicopters but we didn't have any. They were dropping bombs and we had to keep on running. We were running as fast as a race car. I didn't like it because I had to see all my mates get shot and there were people getting shot in there cheek and I could smell the blood.
I hide behind a pile of dirt then BOOM It gives me a fright. I look behind me and then another man gets killed. I take a deep breath and keep on running.

I was made by a scientist to help people and make sure everyone is ok. We also set up lots of cameras inside me so the scientist could control me. He had cameras all around the wall so he could see to. He let me out the window so he could see if I work.
I worked fine so off I went I could go through windows,in the middle of buildings, down roads, and watch people. There was a fire down a street and put it out with my rain. I made dogs bark at night .

Something fishy
Walt use correct punctuation
Something fishy
I was sitting in the laundry mat when I saw a blue shine coming from a washing machine. I wanted to have a look, I walked over and put my hand in the washing machine then took a big breath and put my face in the water. Suddenly it took me into a magical world with socks that were fish tops that were squids and more fish that were socks and beanies that were turtles. The fish were all glowing and I could barely see anything because the water was so soapy. I was feeling happy because I got to hold one but it swam away fast. There was lots of coins on the ground from people's pockets that were left there.
Then a massive shark came at me to eat me it had big shark teeth and had a button for his nose. He came closer and closer to me he really wanted to eat me. I hid behind a skinny tall tree but he still tried to eat me. I swam and swam until he almost took a foot of me I swam and swam until I got tired I really needed a break. I looked up and saw light in front of me I said “yay” and I thought why did I do that.
Anyway I got to the end and I flopped out of the machine so did the jeans. I was so scared of them I slowly went to put my finger on the jeans until I heard a noise saying “I believe those are mine” I looked up feeling really embarrassed. The end
